A support chat is available for Ukrainian children.
The support chat is staffed by specialists—psychologists and educators—who have completed specialized training. The chat specialists listen to the children, provide support and advice within their capabilities, and, if necessary, encourage them to seek help from a trusted adult.
While children rarely start conversations directly about the war, they often want to share experiences and emotions related to everyday life—school, relationships with peers and family members, difficulties adjusting to a new place, and homesickness. However, nearly every conversation touches on the topic of the war in Ukraine. Children are often reluctant to trouble their parents or other family members with their daily issues, as they know that the situation in Ukraine occupies everyone's thoughts, and they frequently feel that adults don't have the time or desire to listen to them. Chatting is very convenient as the listener is unseen, unknown, and the child can end the conversation at any time.
We invite any child aged 7 to 17 to ask questions or share their thoughts. The chat is free of charge and requires only an internet-enabled device. The chat is available at letschat.fi and operates on weekdays from 12:00 to 16:00.
